This guide walks you through your first few minutes with Kahf Browser so you can configure privacy, safety, and appearance the way you like.
Use this article right after installing Kahf on your device.
1. Open Kahf Browser for the first time
- Launch Kahf Browser from your desktop, Start menu, Applications folder, or home screen.
- Wait for the first window to appear; this may take a little longer the first time on some devices.
- If your system asks for confirmation (for example, macOS “Are you sure you want to open it?”), choose Open.
If Kahf does not launch or closes immediately, see the Kahf Browser Not Opening article in the Troubleshooting section.
2. Choose your language and region
- On first launch, select your preferred language from the list (if prompted).
- Check that your region or locale is correct so dates, times, and some website content display properly.
- Confirm your choices to continue.
You can always change language and regional format later from Settings → Language & Regional Settings.
3. Review privacy and safety options
Kahf Browser is designed to give you stronger privacy and safer browsing by default. During first-time setup, you may see options such as:
- A recommended privacy level (for example, Standard or Strict protection).
- Optional safe / filtered browsing mode to help avoid inappropriate content.
- Additional toggles that control ad and tracker blocking.
Recommendations:
- For most users, keep the recommended (default) privacy level enabled.
- If you want maximum blocking and do not mind occasional site breakage, choose a stricter level.
- If you use Kahf for children or family devices, enable any available kids or family‑safe options.
You can learn more in the articles How Kahf Protects Your Privacy and Ad & Tracker Blocking Explained.
4. Import bookmarks and data (optional)
If you previously used another browser (such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari), you can often import your data.
Typical steps:
- Open Settings (menu icon → Settings or Preferences).
- Look for an option like Import data or Import from another browser.
- Choose the browser you want to import from.
- Select what to import (bookmarks, history, saved passwords, etc.).
- Confirm and wait until the import completes.
If import is not available on your platform, you can still add important sites as bookmarks manually in Kahf.
5. Set Kahf as your default browser (recommended)
Setting Kahf as your default browser means links you open from email and other apps will use Kahf automatically.
- In Kahf, open Settings → General (or a similar section).
- Look for Default browser.
- Click Set as default and confirm in your operating system dialog.
For detailed steps on each platform, see the Set Kahf as Default Browser article.
6. Choose your homepage and new tab layout
You can customize what you see when Kahf starts or when you open a new tab.
- Open Settings → Homepage or New Tab.
- Choose one of the options, for example:
- Kahf’s default start page.
- A blank page.
- A custom URL (for example, your favorite website, a dashboard, or a search page).
- Save your changes.
For more options, check the Customizing Your Homepage article.
7. Set your default search engine
Kahf lets you choose which search engine to use from the address bar.
- Go to Settings → Search or Search Engine Settings.
- Pick a search engine from the built‑in list.
- If supported, add a custom search engine and set it as default.
You can switch the default search engine at any time if your needs change.
8. Adjust appearance and basic behavior
Make Kahf comfortable to use by tuning its look and feel:
- Theme and mode: Switch between light and dark (if available) to match your preference.
- Font size and zoom: Increase or decrease the default size for easier reading.
- Tabs and windows: Decide what happens when you open links (same tab, new tab, or new window).
These options are usually found under Settings → Appearance and Settings → Tabs & New Window Behavior.
9. Sign in or enable sync (if available)
If Kahf offers sync between devices, you may see a prompt to sign in or create an account.
- Open Settings → Sync or Account.
- Sign in with your Kahf account (or create one, if needed).
- Choose what to sync: bookmarks, history, passwords, settings, or open tabs.
For more details, see the Syncing Across Devices article in the Sync, Data & Devices section.
10. Quick checklist
Before you finish, confirm these basics:
- Kahf opens correctly on your device.
- Your language and region look correct.
- Your privacy level is set to your preference.
- Important bookmarks (or other data) are imported.
- Kahf is set as your default browser (if you want this).
- Homepage, search engine, and appearance are configured.
If something does not work as expected, visit the Help Center or articles in the Troubleshooting & Fixes section.
